Sorry, I had to do it, I just couldn’t help myself…
When I started this project I considered including a quote of the day. I quickly disabused myself of that idea…
However, I was re-reading an article in The Atlantic \”How To Land Your Kid In Therapy\” by Lori Gottlieb and this jumped out at me and demanded posting…
“Happiness as a goal is a recipe for disaster.”
That is something it seems we don’t teach much anymore. As the founders/Jefferson put it, Happiness is not an unalienable right “the pursuit” is…
We had a very hard rain today and the river was extraordinarily high with a lot more flotsam and jetsam than normal…
In pursuit of happiness I have discovered that I love the pop a correctly preserved jar makes when it comes out of the water bath and seals…

The pursuit of happiness….such a mystery as to how you do it and why you do it.

Absolutely, it’s the pursuit of happiness–and it doesn’t always stay the same–I think!

Wow! We’re on the same wavelength. I just read that Atlantic article too. It made me think I should help my kids lead meaningful lives, not just happy ones. And that the sucky-ness of my kids’ lives — their struggles — may be a gift in some way… Thanks for the reminder. Love your river photos. I am a huge fan of the Hudson!

Thanks for the visit. I firmly believe that the struggles are a gift as are being allowed to get and stay dirty, falling down without an adult freakout (assuming no blood or concussion) , working your own way through 7th grade trauma and losing in sports. It builds up immunity and skill.
