I don’t mean to be a nag here but the concept that NY is possibly going to approve fracking,  a potential environmental disaster, (Gasland) over massive upstate (where the fracking would actually happen) disapproval has me very exercised.  I have linked to two articles about the situation Will New Yorkers Veto Cuomo? and Polls Show Even Split and will continue to write about this until the polls no longer show an even split.

I had two meetings downtown today, one went well, one not so much. The one that seemed to go well was at Alien Kung Fu.  I was meeting with a producer of  “One Day On Earth“. They need volunteer archivists to go through the rather massive amount of video and photos they have received in response to their 11/11/11 project. I think it will be a lot of fun seeing what people around the world shot that day. They are still waiting on several countries but believe that by 12/11/11 which is the deadline for submissions that they will have material from every country on earth.

The other meeting shall go unmentioned.

I then walked down to the river on Canal Street and walked out on the landing that leads to the Holland Tunnel air shaft.

Briefly: The man is homeless, I had stopped to make sure he was alright and he told me he was just “sleeping”. and that he was unable to fall asleep in the shelter last night.  The young lady was out walking her dog. They had already passed him when the dog suddenly took an interest in the man and headed back.  Luckily it stopped about two feet away. The man rolled over and made a shooing motion with his hand and the dog walked back to the young lady.
