Our lawmakers, as is often the case, are pretending they don’t understand the possible implications of bills they are promoting.  I have a choice of believing they are either stupid, or venal, corrupt and anti- democratic.  Personally I believe the second but it really doesn’t matter. SOPA and PIPA have implications at last as profound as the Patriot Bill and the last Defense Re-authorization Act and can easily be used by any President who wants to stifle free speech on the internet.

In protest of PIPA/SOPA I will be dark from 8AM -8PM today.  Visit Wikipedia for a better analysis then I can give.
