I was at the Union Square Greenmarket today and spring has definitely arrived in the tri-state area. Ramps have been easily available for several weeks but just this week asparagus has flooded the market. Two weeks ago one or two farmers had a small supply. This week everyone has a grand supply. I bought enough ramps to eat for several meals and pickle two pints and enough Asparagus to preserve at least 3 pints. Canning season is here.
If the events of September 11, 2001, have proven anything, it’s that the terrorists can attack us, but they can’t take away what makes us American – our freedom, our liberty, our civil rights. No, only Attorney General (John Ashcroft) can do that.
