We had a lovely Mother’s Day. Started with breakfast with my folks and K and A to celebrate the moms in the house. Abigail got K a lovely purple orchid.
K’s major desire for Mother’s Day was for us (K, A, and me) to go see Dark Shadows, the new Tim Burton/Johnny Depp movie, based on the 60′s soap opera, which we did… in IMAX, no less. It is a lot of fun and some truly gorgeous shots – and Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green and Helena Bonham Carter. (we also saw previews for The Hobbit, Prometheus and The Dark Knight Rises – I am so seeing all of them – although I know The Hobbit will tick me off due to the plot changes.)
We came home and had some great home-made pizza and then K and I watched Mad Men. The title of this weeks episode? “Dark Shadows” and referenced the soap.
Before the movie it was time for my ‘rents to head back up to Boston. I took them to the bus on 31st and 8th and then walked north to Times Square and took in the sights.
First up were some SG’s (southern girls) in their best NYC drag
Then a couple of home boys…
Ralph Kramden (and friends) at Port Authority
and finally, outside Ripley’s Believe It Or Not (warning PG-13)
My old pal “The Blockhead”
What goes in must come out…
