We walked across Central Park to go see “Django Unchained” yesterday. We have now seen all 9 of the movies nominated for Best Picture. With one exception – the one set in France that goes on longer than the Napoleonic Wars and has French people with English accents - they all have many things to recommend them but where is Moonrise Kingdom?

Great winter photos…we really are on totally opposite sides of the country! I am not sure how I’d fare in the snow, but given the beauty, interest and fun in your photos , I ought to try to experience a New York winter just once! Think of the shopping spree I could justify–I would need a coat! I was happy we’d managed to see three of the Oscar nominations, and I think we might get in two more. I’m with you on Moonrise Kingdom!

Lovely photos. I’ve only seen 3 of the 10 films. I did see Les Mis–it was playing at the cheap theater in Notting Hill. if you are a fan of the musical, I wouldn’t suggest the film. I kept giggling every time Russel opened his mouth. I have to give it to him, he tried and he wasn’t that bad-just not good either. Anne Hathaway surprised me.

Not a fan of the musical and definitely would never recommend the film. Did think Anne sang well but acted horribly. Personally, if a Best Supporting Actress nomination had to come out of that film I would have nominated Samantha Barks who plays Éponine.

I was impressed by Barks. I didn’t like the acting at all in this film. Surprised Hugh was nominated
