11-30-13 Travel Theme: Sky

I wish I had a video to show of Tracy Nelson performing that song. But the audio itself is well worth the listen.

Ailsa’s theme this week is sky.

That put me in mind of this sky I took before Thanksgiving. I got off the subway and there it was. I had my iDevice with me. So I shot.

10-27-13 Weekly Photo Challenge: Horizon – Hudson River iPhone Edition

I had a long post about the Boro Walk planned for today but our internet is awful (Thanks Time-Warner Cable! You truly suck), so I am going in a different direction. Taken from our friends, Roy, Anne and Eva’s house this evening. Classic horizon.

10-24-13 Backing Up

Yup it continues but is going well. A good day basically. Very good portfolio review with The Maine Media Workshop/ B&H
at Photo Plus Expo today. Good class tonight. Two city photos with the phone coming up. One inspired by The Accidental Cootchie Mama who asked about the stupidest thing you’ve done to get a photograph. Standing in the middle of 6th Ave above 42nd?

1-21-13 Weekly Photo Challenge: Beyond (Part 2)

“Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable… Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.” -

Martin Luther King Jr.

The Weekly photo challenge is Beyond.  Beyond is a word with many definitions and is used as a preposition, an adverb, and a noun.  While I was contemplating what I might post as a response to the word “Beyond”,an idea occurred to me.

Today I am using three images that were in the blog before but I have been working hard on them, taking them beyond their previous state. This work has taken me beyond the limits of the blog as I am preparing these images for printing.  Each of them, I believe, represents one of “beyond’s” parts of speech.

How did I do? Did I push it beyond endurance?

11-3-12 Exposed!

I do love what a few simple adjustments of subject and shutter speed can do to an image.

I think my favorite shot of the day…
