4-19-12 You Can’t Raise A Caine Back Up

Tonight Katherine and I went to Symphony Space for a showing of some of the best films from The Wild and Scenic Film Festival, a three day film Festival held annually in Nevada City, CA. This was a benefit for Riverkeeper. For me, the highlights  were “One Plastic Beach“, “The Majestic Plastic Bag” and “One Percent Of The Story” but all the films were worthwhile and only 70% or so were depressing.  One small example: Did you know that the Colorado River no longer flows into the Gulf Of California/ Sea of Cortez? It doesn’t, it just dies…

Levon Helm died today.  Amazing drummer and singer.  I regret to say that the last time I saw him live was at Summer Jam at Watkins Glen, when The Band, The Allman Brothers and The Grateful Dead played an all day/night concert in ’73 and I frankly don’t remember that much of the day except the rain and the amazing feeling of being with 600,000 close friends.

In case you are not familiar with his work…
