2-20-12 A Missed Opportunity

I am but mad north-north-west. When the wind is southerly I know a hawk from a handsaw.

-Shakespeare-

Today was a very pretty early spring day so I walked through Riverside Park at lunch.  Squirrels and people everywhere.   (President’s Day – about 1/3 of the workforce had the day off and it is school break time).  As I walked along I saw an old couple about 50 yards ahead of me. The gentleman was throwing food to a squirrel to get it to come out on the path.  As it did, a hawk shot down at it, practically hitting the woman with its wing.  The squirrel just got to safety. I unfortunately did not get the shot of the hawk striking and had to content myself with this…

A bit later I saw what I can only call a looking for trouble rodent…

Did I mention it was a beautiful spring day and lots of people were out?
