“Well, you walk into the room
Like a camel and then you frown
You put your eyes in your pocket
And your nose on the ground
There ought to be a law
Against you comin’ around
You should be made
To wear earphones.”
For whatever reason I have been listening obsessively to Bob Dylan’s Highway 61 Revisited and Leonard Cohen‘s Live From London over the past few weeks. As I thought about Ailsa’s Bridge Theme, it occurred to me that the music I am listening to is a 44 year bridge of time. If you prefer, they are a bridge to 91 years of writing and performance time.
Here are two more of New York’s Bridges.
I believe this is The Manhattan Bridge but it could be The Brooklyn.
“They sentenced me to twenty years of boredom
For trying to change the system from within
I’m coming now, I’m coming to reward them
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
I’m guided by a signal in the heavens
I’m guided by this birthmark on my skin
I’m guided by the beauty of our weapons
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin”
