We had our first “blizzard” of the season.
Blizzard is a term that has become as overused as hero. The Weather Channel continues its obnoxious habit of naming snow storms, but I bet they don’t name the storms that only hit North Dakota or Buffalo or Maine.
There are definitely places that had a blizzard but 6.4 inches in Central Park does not make the cut. It snowed and it was very pretty.
I agree. I used to work often in Buffalo. They would just scoff at the TV reaction to 2″ of snow in NYC, while they handled 2 feet and more without a whimper. In fact, without any notice! Snow gets ratings. Why would the major networks devote their morning schedule to an innocuous storm like today to full coverage? Ratings!
And that is why the Weather Channel started naming them. I spent to years in Minnesota so I am, shall we say, familiar with cold weather and snow.
😱😉
I couldn’t agree more … about those overused words. ‘Hero’ seems to have taken on a whole new meaning, and ‘brave’ too. I found it confusing, when I’d first moved here. People thought I was ‘brave’ for writing some silliness in a blog?! Some woman didn’t have the ‘courage’ to take part in a photo-a-day challenge.
We got the same snowstorm. Haven’t been out yet. Loved the snow-selfie 😀
Thanks. Brave of you to write.
I’m a very courageous person.
