We arrived in Mexico City on Saturday. Went to the lovely apartment we had rented and settled in…
Had dinner at Azul Condesa (a really good restaurant, if you are ever in Mexico City, check it out. I had the venison steak, known in English as The Enigmatic Black Chichilo.
The next day we went to the Center City to the Metropolitan Cathedral to see how Palm Sunday was celebrated in Mexico City.
The calendar said it was Palm Sunday…the worshipers thought it was palm Sunday but, in the center of the square confusion set in.
Was it Palm Sunday or Day Of The Dead? (Spoiler Alert!)
Turns out the new James Bond movie was shooting in Mexico City and there is a Day Of The Dead chase…
No. Yes. Not a straight line left in the place but extremely impressive. The murals at the Palace were, well, some of Rivera’s greatest work. The ruins were interesting and the Museum was fascinating. Sadly, the Bond people took Sunday off.
What calendar? April 9th, Thursday, was Palm Sunday? What am I not getting? Of course, our Pascha (Easter) is this Sunday.
No, the date I wrote this was April 9. I date all blogs on writing day not happening day. Palm Sunday (RC) was March 29th, our first full day in Mexico.
Apart from everything else, it looks like a beautiful apartment!
The place was built in 1870, had an upper loft balcony above the living room and kitchen. Great place.
Was the Zocalo blocked? Could you walk around the square? What did you think of the Cathedral? The National Palace? Did you go to the Aztec ruins nearby? Did you see Daniel Craig?
