15-11-12 Catching Up

I have not been blogging nearly as frequently as I used to – once a day for 3+ years and now perhaps twice a week, but it isn’t because I’ve thrown in the towel. Life situations change and our responses change with them.

When I started the QH my life was in the midst of a multitude of crises and blogging about the Hudson River, the extraordinary yet prosaic, polluted and beautiful, historic and forgotten, river was a way that I could exert some control over the rain of crap that was falling down on me and all my loved ones.

Things change. Like the little kid said in the old joke…”I know there is a pony in here somewhere.”

Less scatalogically as the Pistol Annies sang:

My life is like a lemon drop
I’m suckin’ on the bitter to get to the sweet part”

I don’t know if we ever actually get there but as my favorite quote goes:

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

Samuel Beckett

All this is to say that we are all currently healthy, Abigail is having a great time in college, Katherine’s work is tremendously fulfilling, and while I am “under-incomed” I am working and finding time to do my photographic work.

I am pleased to say that this image sold for $450 at the Friends for Friends Auction and that in total the auction raised over $165,000 for children’s healthcare in Asia.

The holiday season is upon us. If you are looking for a gift there are still a few copies of The Quotidian Hudson and of One Quick Blink available. I also have a variety of prints for sale which can be found on my website: http://www.robertsjohnsonphotography.com

To everyone, thank you all for following the QH over the years.

Meeting and getting to know some of you, whether in RL or virtually, has been a great treat.

  1. I think I’ve been a follower of QH since the get go. Blogging comes and goes in cycles for most of us. That photo is totally awesome.

I keep dreaming of going to NYC. I want to go alone [as to challenge myself], but my husband doesn’t think that’s a good idea and he doesn’t want to go. If I can find a travel companion here, I’ll go. Hope we can have a cuppa 🙂
