17-01-03 Trans_Lucent Dreams

“Everybody is wrong about everything, just about all the time.” – Chuck Klosterman
“I am not one of those who in expressing opinions confine themselves to facts.” – Mark Twain

I am always extremely impressed with those definitive people who can say with confidence on January 1st that: “this was my best/favorite work of the past year.”

I seem to always feel: “Well, yes, that is true today but how about next month? Or next week? Or tomorrow? I will have changed by then. So, I expect my opinion will as well.”

Pretty wishy-washy, I guess.

Anyhow, a few of my favorite images made in 2016 from my project “Trans_Lucent”  as of 1/3/17 at 9:00 am…

10-25-16 The World Series

Begins right now! I am not a football fan and was glad that this past Sunday  lots of kids were out playing baseball and soccer in Riverside Park,

I got a nice double exposure but can’t decide if I prefer it in color or black and white.

All thoughts appreciated.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHER!!!! 20 years old. OMG

15-12-15 One Week To The Winter Solstice (Grand Canyon Edition)

It was 63 today in New York City. They are predicting 59 for the Solstice and possibly 66 for Christmas Eve day. Naturally my thoughts turned to the Grand Canyon. I took one of my “two star” shots of the Grand Canyon South Rim (in my organizing system two stars means worth working on but probably not a finalist) and several hours doing some preliminary editing. I came up with four variants which I would like to share with you.

For the technically inclined this image was shot:

Nikon D 800; ISO 100; 1/125th; F / 8; 85mm. All post was done in Lightroom. Feedback appreciated.

15-01-20 Weekly Photo Challenge: Serenity (Journey Through The Past Edition)

Whether he is an artist or not, the photographer is a joyous sensualist, for the simple reason that the eye traffics in feelings, not in thoughts.

Attempting serene

Take 1

Take 2

and now Take 3 – I can’t yet decide which attempt at this image from January 7, 2011 centers me in serenity more. Perhaps they make me too serene to care at the moment?

15-01-06 42nd Street (Late Evening)

“The soft rush of taxis by him, and laughter, laughters hoarse as a crow’s, incessant and loud, with the rumble of the subways underneath – and over all, the revolutions of light, the growings and recedings of light – light dividing like pearls – forming and reforming in glittering bars and circles and monstrous grotesque figures cut amazingly on the sky.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald
