17-01-05 First Cold Night of 2017

Has put me in mind of warmer times…

Karaoke on Coney Island. She sang “You Don’t Own Me.” Every woman over 30 in the audience sang along.

The nuns weren’t actually singing in Brooklyn Bridge Park but who could resist?

06-15-15 Double Your Pleasure Or At Least Your Fun

While I waited for a few students from the ICP Borough Walk through Brooklyn Heights and Brooklyn Bridge Park to meet us at Jane’s Carousel, I thought I would play with some double exposures at bride central – the boardwalk in front of the carousel. I was there for about 45 minutes and saw 5 wedding dresses with groom tux accompaniment and three engagement shoots happening…in a town this big you would think…

Nah, it is a pretty place.

7-27-14 Travel Theme: Meeting Places

Ailsa’s travel theme this week is meeting places. I am currently TA for Lynn Saville’s New York at Twilight class (Check out her work here).

Two nights ago we went to a classic NYC meeting place:

Washington Square Park, legendary Greenwich Village Meet up spot.

9-30-13 The Island

“Sometimes, from beyond the skyscrapers, the cry of a tugboat finds you in your insomnia, and you remember that this desert of iron and cement is an island.”
Albert Camus

Photoville closed last night. One of the final events was a workshop put on by Resource Magazine.  Alexandra Niki, co-Founder of Resource Magazine and RETV, and Adam Sherwin, Executive Producer and co-Founder of RETV ran a seminar/workshop on “Build Your Online Presence In One Day.” Excellent information. If you have a chance to hear them speak, take it.

Exiting Photoville I walked into this view. Couldn’t resist.

I think the helicopter in the upper right quadrant in the photo above looks like the Starship Enterprise when I zoom in. Let me know if you agree

9-23-13 Travel Weekly Challenge Theme From Lines To (and) Through Patterns (Summer’s Gone Edition)

Summer ended yesterday in the northern hemisphere and I am all jumbled up.

Weekly Photo Challenge: From Lines To Patterns

Ailsa’s Travel Theme: Through

“The night runs away with the day
The grass that was green is now hay
The world goes around without even a sound
And it looks like the summer is over

The rains tumble down in the sky
Young swallows have learned how to fly
The leaves that were green are no longer so green
And it looks like the summer is over

The sun and the moon take turns in the sky
The days drift on by too soon
The meadows are kissed by a cool autumn mist
Far away now is June

The birds fly away to the sun
The leaves touch the ground one by one
The breeze hurries by without even goodbye
And it looks like the summer is over

The sun and the moon take turns in the sky
The days drift on by too soon
The meadows are kissed by a cool autumn mist
Far away now is June

The birds fly away to the sun
The leaves touch the ground one by one
The breeze hurries by without even goodbye
And it looks like the summer is over

And it looks like the summer is over.”

Sung by Dusty Springfield – beautifully – but I do not know the author

These next two images are a stretch but I took them yesterday as summer died and I like them so I am including them.

9-20-13 Weekly Photo Challenge: From Lines To Patterns [East River Edition]

This week’s Photo Challenge is From Lines to Patterns.

I could have taken the “2” subway line to Borough Hall to get to Photoville yesterday but given that my work is being shown by The East River Ferry, I though it karmically best to take the Ferry to DUMBO. The first few shots are from the Ferry, the others are from Brooklyn Bridge Park.

6-22-12 Tripartite Day

Wanted to go to the opening of Photoville today before we went out with David and Jenna. Took the ferry from Pier 11 to Brooklyn Bridge Park and wandered about before heading to Photoville. It rained hard. The opening was basically postponed until Saturday. It looks like it will be interesting.

Started on the Manhattan side.

I love looking through other people’s lenses
