17-06-02 I’m Back?

It’s been a long time…lots of stuff going on. Work (and the lack thereof), family, health, anxiety, depression, joy, and tension, transitions and transitioning, working it out and moving on. Broken Light Collective

I have spent a lot of time working on the first expression of my new book: “Trans_Lucent v 1.0”.  It is both a work in progress and a complete work. I have made 8 demo copies but… Naturally I am totally ambivalent about it.

Lots of time on the road, back and forth to Boston, went to NOLA for Jazz Fest, a not entirely successful trip down memory lane. You really can’t recreate the moments of your life and you shouldn’t make the mistake of trying. Have to remember to go and create anew. NOLA brought up lots of memories of the dead.

Took a wonderful class taught by Liam Cunningham at ICP.

Went to the Oaxaca Coast and Mexico City. It is good to be on the right side of Trump’s fantasy wall and was hard for us to return.

Spending lots of time on Cape Cod working on my parent’s place, trying to get it ship shape for the future.

Worked as a Teaching Assistant in ICP Community Partnership. Some of the most rewarding time I have spent in years.

I may actually have made some new friends! That doesn’t happen often.

Over the next few posts (which I hope will come at least every three days or so) I will be posting some of what I have been shooting.

I hope you all are well.

Let’s start old school in Black and White.

The image the gallery chose is “After The Harvest.”

16-06-14 WPC – Pure (time goes by like hurricanes)

Well, hear us now, we ain’t wastin’ time no more
‘Cause time goes by like hurricanes
Runnin’ after subway trains
Don’t forget the pouring rain.

After the horrific, homophobic, rampage in Orlando by yet another young man with a really big, legally bought!!!!!, gun, which was designed for only one purpose and one purpose only, to kill people, I keep finding myself drawn back to this image. And to the actual item which lives on a window in our apartment.

The challenge this week is pure

16-01-25 Begging Your Indulgence

I spent the last week as TA for a great class taught by the very talented Winona Barton-Ballentine (check her work out!) called In Design For Photographers at ICP. I worked on a little booklet there which I am somewhat pleased with (I have more to do, but it is heading where I want to go.)

I had hoped to put it onto QH so you could see it. In that cause, I have been attempting to figure out how to embed a PDF into a post so you don’t have to click on a link to see it. I have not yet been able to make that work. I know it is possible in WP.org but I am not sure it is possible in WP.com. So, the indulgence I am begging is twofold.

1: If you are a WP maven can you guide me through how to do this?

2: Will you please click on the link and take a look? (FYI: One page may be NSFW depending on your work environment)

8 Pages 1 v4_signed This is the link.

Thank you.

15-12-21 Lens Culture (Almost Winter Solstice Edition)

So the Winter Solstice is at 11:48PM (EST) tonight.

They are predicting temps as high as 63 Tuesday and 73 on Christmas Eve. I guess we don’t have to move back to LA for the weather after all…

I made several entries to the Lens Culture Exposure awards today and thought I would share one of the series with you…

As always feedback is appreciated.
