“Everybody is wrong about everything, just about all the time.” – Chuck Klosterman
“I am not one of those who in expressing opinions confine themselves to facts.” – Mark Twain

I am always extremely impressed with those definitive people who can say with confidence on January 1st that: “this was my best/favorite work of the past year.”

I seem to always feel: “Well, yes, that is true today but how about next month? Or next week? Or tomorrow? I will have changed by then. So, I expect my opinion will as well.”

Pretty wishy-washy, I guess.

Anyhow, a few of my favorite images made in 2016 from my project “Trans_Lucent”  as of 1/3/17 at 9:00 am…

16-09-27 Trans_Lucent 8 (Yes, but edition)

I am deep into a very personal project that I am calling (at least for now) Trans_Lucent. I finally got to work on it a bit in the last week. Much is focused on in-Camera double exposures (not all but much) and I added a piece last week.

You can see the whole current first draft (or maybe first several chapters) on my webpage at Transitory.

A transition…

I have been gone awhile. I don’t think one is supposed to complain when one is getting too much work to post on WordPress but… complain I might…but I won’t.

It was source of great amusement to several people the other day, that I frequently say “yes, but”…

It is true, I do…but, so what?

I could also complain about being the meat and cheese in the sandwich but I share that with too many folks of my age and it is boring (sad but…boring.)

In any case, here is the latest addition to my work.

8-30-14 Weekly Photo Challenge: Dialogue

Dialogue is an engaging conversational exchange.

When it comes to photography, dialogue can be perceived as a consensual interaction between two images.

Placed next to each other, each photograph opens up to meanings that weren’t there when viewed alone.

Each composition reveals the photographer’s specific sensitivity to certain content or visual elements.”

7-26-11 Chchchanges

I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same…

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-Changes
Oh, look out you rock ‘n rollers
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-Changes
Pretty soon now you’re gonna get older

Time may change me
But I can’t trace time
I said that time may change me
But I can’t trace time

5-17-11 Change of Rhythm/Change of Blog

“I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream”

My schedule has changed and I am back to being fully employed. I did not make it to the river today, at least not in a photographic sense. I saw the river, but there was simply no time to stop and shoot.  Luckily, as this is primarily a photo blog,  I have a rather large stash of river pictures to choose from on those days I can’t make it to the river at all.  I have pictures that go back several years on the river in digital form and pictures that go back further than that in actual photographs. On days the river escapes me I will use those. Most days I expect/hope to make it but we shall see what life brings…

I shot this image the evening the blog began to take shape in my mind. A hot August night last summer.
