“When you’re 20 you care what everyone thinks, when you’re 40 you stop caring what everyone thinks, when you’re 60 you realize no one was ever thinking about you in the first place.”
Have you ever thought: “Wow, this seems like a really great thing to do. Let’s do it!” and then discovered half way through that you have bitten off more than you can easily chew and things start to feel really dicey?
That is what I did today. 10 hours later, I made it through and it only cost two incredibly sore calves, a bruised kneecap, a deep look into my internal mirror, and a realization of where I am in my life.
I am very glad I did it.
I seriously doubt that I will ever do it again.
Took a drive to Croton-on-Hudson today. I ended up spending my entire time at Croton Point Park. This is the site of the Clearwater Festival. Amazing bird watching, great river access. (As always click on image for full size view)
As I was walking through the park I saw a trail that seemed to lead in the direction of the river so, violating every rule I have heard of hiking…know the trail you are walking, where does it go, distance of hike, circular or not, bring water and food…
nope did none of those things…
I headed down an old set of stairs that lead to the trail…
turned the corner…
then to top it off…after falling over a park bench yesterday…
missed the step…
got my foot caught in a creeping vine and fell again…
Once again I landed on my right forearm. Once again the camera is well…
down to a rocky little beach
After I came back to the groomed area of the park I went up a steep set of steps and found myself in the RV Park.
It is big…
Hope that you enjoyed the walk.
