Some, too fragile for winter winds
The thoughtful grave encloses—
Tenderly tucking them in from frost
Before their feet are cold.

Never the treasures in her nest
The cautious grave exposes,
Building where schoolboy dare not look,
And sportsman is not bold.

This covert have all the children
Early aged, and often cold,
Sparrow, unnoticed by the Father—
Lambs for whom time had not a fold.

Emily Dickinson

3-21-14 egnellahC otohP ylkeeW: Reflections

The photo challenge this week is reflections.

“A lake is a landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature. It is Earth’s eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.”
 Thoreau

I’m a photographer. I chose to take the word and its meaning literally. RSJohnson_Hudson_13081300086

9-8-13 Weekly Photo Challenge: An Unusual POV (#2)

The challenge this week is: An Unusual POV. My first go is here.

I was having some trouble with this challenge, uninspired and feeling flat, until I saw Vlad’s response over at Wind Against Current. (check it out – follow the link). He had posted such remarkable work that I felt I had to give it a go.

Once is not enough they say so here is attempt #2. Three shots from the tunnel leading to the river at 96th Street.
