8-30-13 Weekly Photo Challenge: Sea

This weeks challenge is: “SEAWhat kind of emotions does the sea or ocean make you feel? Do you remember the first time you went in the water? Had a wave crash on you? Felt the sand burn your feet? Do you feel more peaceful around water? Do you hate the beach? What’s the most interesting thing about the sea for you?”

To state the obvious, this is one I could spend the week on (and just may do so).

For my first view let me take you back to January 13, 2011. 6:46 PM. 4 degrees above zero. Wind chill -13. Battery Park, snow piled high. For the second time in 170 years. all three Cunard Queens are in a port and departing for…?

Celebration, fireworks, excitement, really cold shooting, frozen cameras, frozen fingers, frozen toes, frozen nose. All three Queens head down The Hudson River and into the Harbor from whence they will go off to the sea.

The river flows
It flows to the sea
Wherever that river goes
That’s where I want to be
Flow river flow

The river flows
It flows to the sea
Wherever that river goes
That’s where I want to be
Flow river flow
Let your waters wash down
Take me from this road
To some other town

Spending the days and nights by the sea, 1600 miles (2600 kilometers) give or take as the crow flies,  from NYC, in a different country, and Abigail turns on the TV and we get Fox 5 NY…h’mmmm.

This shot (11/3/10) was the one that sold me on the Hudson project. I had been thinking of a number of projects but I liked the sense of collaboration implied here.
