Weekly Photo Challenge – Mexico City Edition

So, the challenge this week is happy place.

Just happens that K and I are in Mexico City for the weekend. This is rapidly becoming one of our happy places. I intentionally did not bring my card reader or external hard drive on this trip so I am unable to download what I have shot, shades of the bad old days of film! – so all I can show you now are my happy little iPhone/Snapseed pix.

15-07-08 “One Quick Blink” Is Published

I am trying something here and I don’t know if it will work

Theoretically I have embedded a PDF version of my new book, “One Quick Blink”, above this line. I made 18 copies, of which 15 are available for sale, numbered and signed, at $45 per book. The book is 7×7 with an Indigo cover made of Papel de Amate. In a few weeks an unnumbered version (signed upon request) with a slightly different cover (Olive Green or another variant) will be available at  $37 per copy.

Whether you are interested in purchasing the book or not, I do hope the PDF is readable for you. Please note that there is a typo on the back page that has been fixed in production.

15-06-23 Deck Of Cards – One Quick Blink

This is the first poem and second image from the new book

Deck of Cards

The angels of lime
come unraveled at a vibration
of chance and breakfast.

The demons were concealing sands
when they discovered
the spirit
of explosions.

Demons, angels
go on picking up what corresponds to each
from the deck
of the afterworld:

From fatigue comes the star,
from the rose the rivers,
from the hand the path
…and from the white nets
the blackness of homicide.

15-06-10 A New Artifact

I have been working on another artist book, this one about images from Holy Week in Mexico City. Unlike the Quotidian Hudson – still a few copies left by the way – this is not the culmination of 4 years of labor and life. This is an outsider’s quick flyby of a culture not his own. I think the title is apt…“One Quick Blink”. I submitted the final files to the lovely folks at Conveyor Arts earlier this evening. They are a “production house specializing in small run editions…”.

I will have more details in the coming days but for now I thought I would share one of the images from the book.

And yes, I do realize this could be used for the Weekly photo challenge: Vivid
