15-04-08 Studio Shoot With Mexico City On My Mind

And then I fell in love, with the most wonderful boy in the world.
We would take long walks by the river
Or just sit for hours gazing into each other’s eyes.
We were so very much in love.
Then one day, he went away and I thought I’d die.
But I didn’t.

Leiber and Stoller

The night before we left for Mexico City I had a chance to shoot two of my favorite models, Larissa Simpson and Cyrus Bandali, during Robert Meyer’s Advanced Lighting Seminar.  I brought in no props or costumes but Andrea Buman and Carol Elizabethe Manzi were kind enough to let me use their stuff. I didn’t realize until today what direction my subconscious was leading me.

Come on in and spend a few hours in the studio with me

(as always click on the images to see them full size.)

15-03-02 Compare And Contrast – Studio and Lightroom

Between the snow and the icy roads I didn’t get back from the wedding until almost 2am. The driving was more tiring then the working.

I had planned a day of shooting but everything except my eyes and brain felt wiped so thought I would work on some images for presentation at my Friday workshop.

The first image of Derrick is the original. The second is with no change except white balance. The others show further work done. I have two favorites which will go unremarked upon.  Feel free to let me know if any resonate with you!

15-02-15 Fashion Week

‘Girls do not dress for boys. They dress for themselves and, of course, each other. If girls dressed for boys they’d just walk around naked at all times.’

3-10-14 A Change Of Perspective

It wasn’t until I reread my post that I realized more than anything I have shown so far, the two photographs I chose truly represented a change of perspective, which is the photo challenge this week.

We spent some more time in the studio last Thursday. Our models were Jim Carvalho and Lulu Ward, two entirely professional and wonderful people. I expect I will be posting more of them down the road but today I wanted to show my work, as it were.

A bit different than my usual perspective, I think…
