I am very pleased to say that on Thursday I (along with 20 talented photographers) will be a part of the B&H Event Space Portfolio show opening at Soho Photo Gallery. The opening is from 6p-8p and the show runs until July 23rd.
The image the gallery chose is “After The Harvest.”
If you are in the tristate area come on by whether to the opening or anytime before July 23rd just to see all the great work in the gallery (open Wednesday to Sunday 1pm-6pm).
There is no present or future; only the past, happening over and over again now.”
The Challenge this week is “Future”.
By the time you see this it will be my past…
Planting baby oysters in Blackfish Creek, Wellfleet, MA.
“Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Dust off the sun and moon and sing a song of cheer”
I’m in a summer mood today. This is probably because the temperature skyrocketed to above freezing. I actually found myself taking off my coat and walking in shirt sleeves (long sleeves but still). I also recently did an iPhone dump of photos, many of which were from last summer.
Not all creatures care…
The Walrus and the Carpenter
Walked on a mile or so,
And then they rested on a rock
And all the little Oysters stood
And waited in a row.
“The time has come,” the Walrus said,
“To talk of many things:
Of shoes–and ships–and sealing-wax–
Of cabbages–and kings–
And why the sea is boiling hot–
And whether pigs have wings.
Ailsa said multiples, right?
Oyster shell in the mud
Today we had what we call a three water day.
Elizabeth really wanted Oysters for the cocktail hour. Blackfish Creek is home to the best Oysters in Wellfleet and therefore the world, and there are several Oyster Farmers on the flats as well as several legal foragers who harvest daily. Elizabeth decided to see if she could buy some. She took off with Ben while I was waiting for a visitor. But I chased them down (home field advantage.
The farmers aren’t allowed to sell so I found a forager and we bought 2 dozen.
That was water 1. Then off to LeConte Hollow for some time in the Atlantic.
Ben with Abigail behind…Then off to Duck Pond.
Back to the house so those who eat oysters could indulge.
To finish our day we went to Harwich for the first game of The Cape Cod League playoffs between Harwich and Orleans.
Hey, it’s an iPhone. What can I tell you?
Orleans won the game 3-1.
Went and had dinner at friends last night. Abigail and Eva have been friends since they were babies. We were originally set up by a third couple who believed that we would like each other and since we both had new babies… Best blind date I have ever been on.
Their apartment is on the top floor overlooking the river and the park. It is a great place to contemplate the randomness of life and fate … and to drink really great wine.
We brought a contribution back from Wellfleet…
