16-01-04 Drop Me In The Water

“Gently the waves would break (Lily heard them in her sleep); tenderly the light fell (it seemed to come through her eyelids). And it all looked, Mr. Carmichael thought, shutting his book, falling asleep, much as it used to look years ago.”

15-03-21 Seven Pictures -Fourteen Poems

I spent all day working in Lightroom on the pictures I shot yesterday in celebration of Spring.

In the process I “found” fourteen  2-line poems. I “created” them by taking the playlist of the 14 songs I had on auto repeat and for the first group of seven, taking the first line of each song in order played and then, for the second group, taking the first line of song 1, the second of song 2, the third of song 3 etc…

Scarily some of them are actually not just nonsensical.

So, to accompany your journey through my photographic day yesterday, here we go.

From my apartment

I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping/Baby we’ve been together for a long, long time

I had me a boy, turned him into a man/You get a shiver in the dark

Oh, then I let him go./A band is blowing Dixie double four time

Do you remember I searched you out/Will you dance, Charlie boy, will you dance?

We’ve been doin’ this longer than you’ve been alive/They call me the breeze

Outside another yellow moon/Hey babe, what’s in your eyes?

Whether he is an artist or not, the photographer is a joyous sensualist, for the simple reason that the eye traffics in feelings, not in thoughts.

Attempting serene

Take 1

Take 2

and now Take 3 – I can’t yet decide which attempt at this image from January 7, 2011 centers me in serenity more. Perhaps they make me too serene to care at the moment?

4-7-14 A Sunday Journey

Yesterday I showed the threshold of a New York spring.  As several people noticed I stopped by the Lighthouse on my walk.

RSJohnson_Hudson_1404060094 I then headed off to get up to the bridge. I took a different route this time. It involves an underpass beneath the West Side Highway…

RSJohnson_Hudson_1404060147

It is a charming place. From there you have several choices. I decided to go under the northbound off ramp…

RSJohnson_Hudson_1404060195

but soon enough I was up on the bridge looking back on the way I had come and the way I would return home and wondering what kind of idiot would possibly ruin their political career by ordering the shutdown of three lanes leading on to a bridge that carried 102 million (102,000,000) vehicles in 2013.
